Day 21 - Still in San Diego

It was Thursday October 9th

21 days of our trip were done

Only 3 to go

Originally in my plans, this was going to be the day we'd visit the San Diego Zoo, but last night after such a big day at Sea World, we decided that maybe we'd leave the Zoo for Friday, and just have a slow day, and  look around San Diego instead.

We enjoyed our complimentary breakfast again and packed the kids in the car.  Craig lived in San Diego back when he was a U.S Marine, and he wanted to take us onto the base and show us around. It happened to be family day, so we were in luck.  We looked around, and it brought back lots of memories for Craig.  The weather was actually a lot cooler than the day before had been and a little windy so we didn't stay too long, all dressed in our summer clothes!

We left there and went to pick up my parents who were checking out of their hotel.  Their flight to San Francisco wasn't until later that night though, so they could spend the day with us.  We were going to go and visit the U.S.S midway, but nixed that plan at the last minute and wound up at Coronado Island, home to the famous and very expensive

Hotel del Coronado

The kids really had a great time running around on the sand and splashing in the waves.
Kingston probably could've stayed there all day if we'd let him, he couldn't get enough.

From the beach we headed South toward the border, my Dad and Craig had talked about going across to Tijuana, Mexico.  Just to have a look.

We weren't that interested in going with them, so we parked the car at the Outlet Mall, and while they walked down to Mexico, we looked around the shops. It was a win-win situation.

After a while the kids were getting tired and bored with shopping

Kingston was so happy to see his old buddy Elmo.  They spent ages playing on these cars, I didn't even have to put any money in!

Before we knew it, it was time to go back to the car and meet the guys.  They'd had a good time and bought back the bargain they had scored - some lovely silver necklaces.  Perfect for Kenzie's dress-ups!!

By the time we got back to our hotel it was time to say goodbye, we ordered some dinner for the kids from the Hunter Steakhouse next door, and Craig drove my parents to the airport, while I got the kids off to bed.
