So it's 4.40am and the kids start to wake up. I think it was partly the excitement, and partly the fact that we were still on Detroit time. So we turned on the tv and let them watch cartoons and tried to sleep a bit more. But by 6 we were all wide awake anyway. So we showered and dressed and headed down to breakfast.
Did I mention we were staying on the concierge level? That means we got breakfast every morning, snacks and drinks throughout the day and hot snacks with beer and wine in the evening.
We were the first ones there, so we had the whole place to ourselves, we had tea and coffee, fresh fruit, cereal, pastries, bagels and juice. It was wonderful! Then we headed back upstairs to get our bags ready for the day.
It was probably around 8/830 when we left the hotel, the park wasn't going to open til 10 but we wanted to wander through Downtown Disney for a while first anyway. We walked into the esplanade and took some pictures in front of the California letters, they are in front of California Adventure - the other Disney Park - right opposite Disneyland. They're all done up like Candy Corn for the Halloween Season.
Around 9 we got in the line for security and pretty soon we could go through and stand at the gates, they had some really fun halloween decorations up.
At 930 we were officially inside Disneyland. We headed through the tunnel and around into Main Street, and who do we run into? Goofy! He was dressed in his Halloween finest
he stole Hunter's hat
and hung it on his nose
then he put it on Kenzie's head.
It was very funny. Then we spied Mickey. Kingston was very excited, he recognized him right away, and held onto Mickey's nose for the picture.
After this we headed down to the end of Main Street for rope drop, we still had about 20 minutes until 10, so decided we would look through the shops instead of waiting, we weren't really in a hurry anyway, we were just excited to be there.
Then it starts to rain! Not really heavy, but enough to get everyone a little wet.
They start the countdown and Disneyland is open. People start running. It's a little crazy. Now I had done my homework and had a plan for the day, so we headed around to Adventureland first.
We walked right onto Jungle Cruise, and we all really enjoyed it, well except for the piranhas. Hunter thought they were a bit scary! We walked around a little more and we saw Tarzan's treehouse, so we parked the stroller and up we went. The kids were loving it!
