cross country and easter parade

The last day of term was Thursday 9th April, right before Easter, and the kids weren't due back until Wednesday the 29th. It was a big break for them. The last few days of term were filled with activities at school.

On the Tuesday, Kingy and I went to watch the kids run in the Cross Country. The kindy kids ran first. Mackenzie did so well. I'm not sure I've ever seen her run before, not for fun anyway!
She finished about 15th out of about 40 girls.

Hunter ran with the 6/7 year old boys, he did well too, finishing in the top half and overtaking many of the girls who had started first.

It was a busy week for us, on Tuesday my brother Chris had arrived, he was going to spend Easter with us and drive up to Queensland with me, you'll hear more about that later. And on the Wednesday, my friend Carmen had arrived with her two boys, from New Zealand, to spend a week with us.

Thursday was the last day of school, and the day of the Easter Parade. The kids got to wear mufti for a change too.

For the Easter Parade, both kids had a choice of making an Easter hat, or an Easter basket.

Hunter chose the hat, Chris helped him make some rabbit ears to stick in the top, and we hung easter eggs around the brim.

Naturally, Kenzie chose the basket. She wanted to decorate it with ribbons and flowers, and we made a paper mache egg to go in it.

On Thursday morning she decided that maybe she might like some ears too, so chris was kind enough to make some for her.

At 9:30, Kinbgy and I and all our houseguests went down to the school to watch the kids.
Here's Kenzie and her class coming out.

And here's Hunter. Some of the hats were really well done.

The kids sang songs and performed for the parents, then they walked around to show off their wonderful hats and baskets.

I have no pictures of kenzie walking, this is when Kingy decided he was over the Easter Parade, and started running away, so I was mostly chasing him down.

The morning ended with a visit from the Easter bunny.
