The Spring Fair

On the 23rd of September we woke up to this view out our front door, red dust was everywhere! It was by far one of the craziest things I have ever seen. I have to say my first thought was who got nuked? It looked like armageddon. By mid afternoon it was all but gone, travelling up the coast to Queensland and even across the Tasman to New Zealand.

Kingston got his new cast, and a haircut.

After a couple of weeks in plaster he was finally able to walk on his leg, which was great for me, because he was unbelievable heavy to carry around with it on, and great for him, because he could do whatever he wanted.

The kid's had their school spring fair on the 19th of September, it was lots of fun, there were games, rides, raffles, food and lots of fun activities.

Kenzie wanted to do jewellery making

she chose to do a bracelet

it turned out so cute

She found one of her classmates at the teacup ride

Hunter and his friend Liam rode the jeeps

They all got their hair coloured

Broken bones

On the Monday night after father's day, Kingston fell in the dining room, nothing exciting, just tripped over his own feet (skis) but he wouldn't walk. I was concerned but not too much, however by the morning he still wasn't walking and it was quite bruised, so after taking the kids to school we headed to the doctor. He took one look and sent us through to the children's hospital.

They gave him some pain medicine and sent us to x-ray.
Sure enough it was broken. They call it a toddler fracture, he probably twisted his foot when he fell, which broke the bone at the bottom of his leg. He was such a trooper through the whole ordeal, and even fell asleep while the doctor was plastering his leg.

They put on a split cast to allow for swelling and gave us an appointment to come back in a week for a full cast.

My mum came into town for a few days on the Thursday afterwards. We were so happy to have her visit, and on the Sunday her and I went to see WICKED. We both really enjoyed it.

Father's Day 2009

As usual we were up bright and early, after breakfast the kids gave Craig his presents.

Kingston was up first, he had hand painted the wrapping paper at playgroup.

He also made a photocard at playgroup.

Mackenzie went next

She had made a heart shaped card at school

And wrote a letter about why her dad is special to her. It was very cute. The picture is of her and Craig roller skating, which they haven't actually done before. A hint maybe????

And Hunter, the kids had taken money to school to shop at the father's day stall, he had picked out this travel mug.

And made a frame with a picture of him in at school.

Kingston napping in his suitcase, he's always got to find somewhere else to sleep.

After naps we took the kids to the playground, Craig and Hunter rode their bikes and I took the other 2 in the car.

Not hard to guess who this crazy haired shadow belongs to.

Blue Mountains trip

Craig had to work on the Saturday before father's day, so I got together with a friend and we took the six kids out to the blue mountains. It took about an hour to get out there, it's a nice scenic drive, but of course the was one part when we were almost there where the road was winding and I heard a little voice from the back say "I think I have to throw up". Oh Mackenzie! Luckily I was able to toss back something for her to use. Then we made a quick stop to dispose of the evidence.

The kids were happy to get out of the car and stretch their legs for a few minutes.

That's Sydney city you can see way way way in the distance.

We made another brief stop in Katoomba where we grabbed some food for lunch.
After lunch, we were off to see the mountains.

Here's Gretch and the kids heading to the walking tracks.

Our little monkeys.

The view from the top is quite spectacular

There's a cable car you ride across in to get a great view. We didn't this time, but the kids really want to go back with Craig, so I'm sure we'll do it then.

Kingy doing some rock climbing, yes he has a car in his hand......he never leaves home without one!

Gretchen and her 3 girls.

After walking the tracks for a while we got some ice-creams and the kids played at the playground. The trip home was very quiet, everyone was tired after our big day out.

The August Update

August

Its been a busy month, I can't believe it's almost over. Now that soccer is over for the year our weekends are free again. We've been able to meet up with friends for picnics at a local park, it's wonderful, it has bike tracks, and nature trails and big playgrounds - hours of fun.

Craig had his birthday and has settled into his new job. The kids are loving school and the next lot of holidays are already on the horizon. Kingston is is his usual crazy, cheeky self.

The days and nights are getting warmer, spring is just around the corner and we can't wait.

It was Craig's birthday on the 11th. It was also his first day at the new job, so after school the kids wrapped presents for him and helped ice the cake. Hunter made him a birthday crown, so Kenzie decided she would make one to wear herself.

Here's the birthday boy opening his cards and presents.

Here he is blowing out his candles, with some help from Kingston. It was a fun night. That's the last birthday in our house until March. Phew. Although Christmas is creeping up on us......

Hunter and Kenzie have been doing very well at school. Hunt got a prize for being Student of the Week in his class. And Mackenzie won the "Caught ya being Good" Award at the school assembly and brought home this skipping rope. Now comes the fun task of teaching them how to use it. ( much easier said than done)

For Craig's birthday, my parents bought him a bike, helmet and baby seat. He put the seat on this weekend, and he and the boys went for some great rides. It's a Weeride Kangaroo carrier and goes on the front of the bike. It's very cool and very easy to ride with him on there. (So I hear, I'm looking forward to getting out on it this week.)

This is the part where Kingy first got on, he's not crying because he doesn't like it, those are "no mummy, no helmet, no" tears.

Here's Hunter ready to go and have some fun.

Eventually the battle was won, and off they went for a ride. Kingston loved it.

He was still a little upset with me though, I'm such a mean mummy making him wear a helmet.
