Easter 2010

Thursday April 1st was the kids last day at school, for the term. Mackenzie had to decorate a hat or basket for the parade and Hunter had to decorate and name an egg. Kingy and I went along to watch, it was really cute, and all the kids did such a great job.

This is Mackenzie's hat.

Hunter's Egg was named Eggie Joe, from the band, Green Egg Day.

Good Friday was Hunter's birthday, and then on saturday the 3rd, we were off to Brisbane. Craig wasn't able to come with us this time due to work, so we decided against driving and thought we'd try out the train instead. We left sydney at 4:12pm and arrived in Brisbane at 5:30am on Easter Sunday. It actually went really well, Hunter and Mackenzie were armed with their DSi's which kept them busy. Kingston watched some movies on the dvd player, and I had a cooler bag filled with drinks, snacks and dinner. They played, read some books, did some colouring, had dinner, and by about 9pm all three were sleeping soundly, and they stayed that way until around 5am when we were nearing Brisbane, and the carriage lights came back on.

Here they are, all ready to leave Sydney.

My mum and dad picked us up in Brisbane, and when we got to their house we saw that the Easter bunny had visited. The kids did a little treasure hunt and found lots of eggs and a toy each too. They were very happy. Later we went out to Springfield to walk around the markets and the kids got to join another egg hunt. They were very lucky, we are actually still eating the chocolate now, 3 weeks later! Easter Sunday ended with a delicious dinner, and a very early night.

Somehow all that chocolate turned Kingston into a T-Rex.

We were up nice and early and feeling refreshed on the Monday, one of our favourite things to do in Brisbane is to visit Southbank, it's a manmade beach down on the river, and they have built a wonderful water play area for the kids there too now. We packed up a picnic, and drove down to Kangaroo Pt. We like to park there and take the boat across to Southbank. It was a perfect day. We all had a good time, relaxing and eating. The kids swam and played and tired themselves out, and Kingston joined the big boys for a game of league. I think we have a future superstar on our hands. The whole week we were there, anytime he saw Chris or Kellum he'd drag them off to play tackle.

Hunter and Mackenzie drying out and relaxing.
